Barnes and Noble Haul

So I recently went to Barnes and Noble to get my sibling’s summer reading books while they are at camp, and I ended up getting 12 books total when only 3 were technically for summer reading. Thanks mom! *waves*

books

^ This is basically my room ^

So here are the books I got:

– The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen –

This one is for my sister’s summer reading, but I read the summary and it seems really interesting. She’s an athlete that has to adjust to her new life after loosing a leg in an accident. I’m also an athlete (believe it or not), and I cannot imagine going through something like that, especially loosing a limb. It’s YA fiction, so I may pick it up in the future.

The Crossover by Kwame Alexander –

This one happens to be for both my brother and sister, but I was recommended this book earlier in the year so I will definitely read this in the future. This is a story told in verse, aka in poems. Although I haven’t read it, I know that it does a very good job of making each poem individual, but also fit together to make an entire book. This book is about basketball, but also family, school, and other struggles in life.

Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli –

The next two are part of my brother’s summer reading list, but I wanted to read them as well so they will probably end up being mine after he reads them. I love that this book has a main character who is gay, and that the book is about him struggling with his personal identity. I know many many people who love this book, so I recommend checking it out. I also like the fact that my school put this on the reading list, because it shows how people are growing to accept everyone the way they are, and are showing that it’s ok to be different and it’s ok to be who you are. I am very excited to read this, and I will definitely put up a review once I finish it.

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon –

Ok to be honest, I know that my brother probably won’t choose this out of the long list of books he gets to choose from, but I got it anyway because it gave me an excuse to have my mom buy it. No shame. At all. But I want to read this book so bad because it sounds AMAZING and I know countless people who have raved about it. This book is about a girl who hasn’t left her house in 17 years. She then sees though her window that a boy named Olly has moved in next door, and the book goes from there. The plot of this book is just so interesting, and even though I have a hunch that she will eventually leave her house because of Olly, I can’t wait to read all that happens within the book. This is another that I will defeinielty review once I’m done, and hopefully that will be very soon!

A Song 0f Fire and Ice Series by George R.R. Martin –

My parents have been watching the Game of Thrones tv series for a while now and I have watched some of the episodes with them, so naturally I wanted to read the books before binge watching the entire series. I think that the whole idea behind this series is so creative, and kind of reminds me of the whole star wars universe because both are intricate worlds that were just thought of by someone. I know that there is a lot to these books, and I’m excited to see how they are. Plus, my dad wanted to read this series as well, so these are more books that I didn’t have to pay for with my own money! I just hope that the books are as good and even better than what I have seen so far from the show.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell –

I cannot believe that I haven’t read this yet and I’m so glad that I picked it up during this book haul. I also have Eleanor & Park, and haven’t read it either (I know, I need to get on that). I think this is one of those books that is perfect for a book nerd because the book is about a book nerd, and she writes fan-fiction as well. I think I will relate to her a lot as a character, as I’m sure many people do as she is going of to college and having to be more separate from her twin sister. Plus, this is the B&N special edition, and the cover is just so beautiful!

Dreamology by Lucy Keating –

And last but not least, I got Dreamology! I have seen this book all over Bookstagram, and the summary makes it sound amazing. Plus, the cover is BEAUTIFUL! For me, I think that dreams are very interesting and I always wonder what they mean. So I want to see how it goes when a boy named Max that Alice always dreams about turns out to be a real boy at her new school. I can’t wait to read this book and see what happens!

And in case you were wondering, I am reading A Prayer For Owen Meany for my summer reading. Let me know what you think of these books if you’ve read them! 🙂

– Happy Reading!
